![]() Deal with angry customers swearing at me because "I asked for a large and you gave me a medium!" (no you didn't you're just lying to try to get a free pizza). Go work food service for a few months and you'll be thankful for your IT job. Working here sucks a lot less than most jobs though. Vendors were requiring pay in full via wire transfer and validation that monies were in their account before providing goods/services. Also the company had recently gone into bankruptcy which definitely was a good sign to GTFO. I also can add that recent management changes in the company I had been working for weren't the best choices. Also it was something that was more fun to me than what I had been doing and offered up more opportunities. Better employee benefits (all Federal holidays off with pay, accrual of sick and vacation time, slightly cheaper insurance coverage with better coverage). A commute that went from 45 minutes via freeway to a 15 minute one via side streets. When I "jumped ship" it was easy to justify. I had taken the job for the benefit of relocation and in terms of pay, it was with the same company so it was just a lateral move. Nice quite place, good for the kids, lots of lakes for fishing, other than the price hike that comes with groceries in a remote area, all good. On weekends, after paying daycare and what not, we didn't have much extra cash because almost everything in that town costs money. Left for work at 7 am, got home at 6PM, ate and sent the kids off to bed. I was living in Toronto and had two small children and third on the way. I left an amazing job to be where I am right now, and right now, I'm ready to jump ship and swim till I find a new one.
